Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager

Position Function: The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for three core responsibilities. First, the QA Manager is responsible for the integrity, maintenance, and effectiveness of Freund-Vector’s Quality Management System. Maintaining Freund-Vector’s ISO-9000 certification is the most core requirement of this first responsibility. Second, the QA Manager is the primary evaluator of the quality of Freund-Vector’s systems and services from the perspective of the marketplace. Third, the QA Manager serves as a support function to other area managers to help them build quality into Freund-Vector’s design practices and provide effective measurement tools of that quality. The Quality Assurance Manager must be able to work with cross-functional groups such Purchasing, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering including but not limited to Executive Level staff. Constantly works towards the commitment of becoming our customer’s most trusted and valuable supplier by pushing the organization to do things right the first time, every time.

Required Education: High School graduate or equivalent required. A bachelor’s d in Engineering or technical background is preferred.

Required Experience: 3-5 years in quality assurance required. 3-5 years Quality Management experience preferred. Previous experience with ISO 9000 strongly preferred. Experience with Freund-Vector equipment, services or knowledge of Freund-Vector’s marketplace is desirable.

Special Skills:: Must have attention to detail and a results-driven approach. Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) are required, including the ability to communicate in front of a large group of people. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs. Must have in depth understanding of Quality Control procedure4s and relevant legal standards.

Mental Requirements: Must have excellent organizational and leadership skills. Must have strong decision making and problem-solving skills. Must demonstrate integrity and maintain confidentiality. Accuracy and thoroughness are critical in this role.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand, and walk continuously up to 8 hours a day. May be required to carry or lift 10-15 pounds occasionally. May be required to pull, push, reach, kneel, bend, or climb frequently. Must be able to traverse on uneven surfaces in a manufacturing setting on occasion. May be exposed to industrial noises frequently and must be able to use to proper PPE to work in a manufacturing environment including the shop floor. May require some travel on occasion. Must be able to climb and descend stairs several times daily.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Essential Tasks:

 

  1. Ensure integrity, effectiveness, and maintenance of Freund-Vector’s Quality Management System.
  2. Ensure the organization maintains ISO-9000 certification.
  3. Lead resource for all quality audits – including ISO and third-party audits of QMS.
  4. Primary resource to ensure effectiveness, accuracy and regular improvements of all documents associated with the Quality Management System.
  5. Primary resource to work with area managers to proactively make improvements to QMS. Also, work with area managers to improve design, assembly, and testing methods.
  6. Perform final evaluation of product quality of Freund-Vector systems by conducting Dry Run evaluations.
  7. The QA Manager will conduct more in-depth Dry Run evaluations based on level of engineering involvement during checkout, including but not limited to instances when Validation Services are not sold or for stock equipment where engineering has less involvement in standard checkout activities.
  8. The primary resource to develop, maintain, and ensure execution of assembly checklists.
  9. Lead the effort to ensure assembly checklists accurately measure the effectiveness and quality of assembly activities by working directly with the Engineering team.
  10. Provide reports to management showing effectiveness of QMS and quality of FV’s equipment and services.
  11. As assigned by President, focus on identifying improvements, changing existing procedures, and measuring results for improvement.
  12. All other duties as assigned.

 

Discretionary Tasks:

  1. Understand ISO processing procedures and act as the Lead ISO Coordinator.
  2. Maintains records related to ISO requirements.
  3. Serve as an Engineering representative to assist in system checkouts during high workloads of the organization resources.
